MEET EMILIA ARENAS

ABOUT EMILIA

Emilia Arenas, a passionate fitness enthusiast and dedicated trainer, fell deeply in love with yoga when her mother invited her to her first class. She was immediately fascinated by the beauty of the human body and its ability to express strength, grace, and mindfulness through sophisticated postures.

After exploring different forms of dynamic yoga and attending various Vinyasa classes, Emilia discovered Ashtanga Yoga — a method that captured her heart and curiosity. Determined to deepen her understanding, she moved to Miami in search of a teacher who could guide her further on this path.

She found that guidance and inspiration in her teachers Kino MacGregor and Tim Feldmann, with whom she has studied ever since. Emilia completed her apprenticeship at Miami Life Center, where she began teaching the mid-morning Mysore program.

Her dedication to learning led her to travel to India multiple times, studying under Sharath Jois and diving into Yoga Philosophy with Dr. Nagaraj in Mysore.

After many years of teaching Mysore-style classes, Emilia expanded her expertise by becoming a Certified Personal Trainer. This new knowledge inspired her to create Wholesome Training — a program designed to help students find balance and joy in their yoga practice while cultivating strength, resilience, and a healthier relationship with their bodies and minds.

my wholesome training journey

”During the years leading up to menopause, I began studying ways to ease the symptoms and discomfort that come with this stage of life. Through my research, I discovered that nearly every expert emphasized the importance of keeping the muscles strong — not only to prevent injuries but also to protect against various health issues that may arise with hormonal changes.

I started lifting weights, and little by little, I began to feel much better in my body. My yoga practice remained flexible, but it became more grounded and stable. Old injuries that had lingered for years started to heal, thanks to the support and protection of stronger muscles.

That experience made me realize how essential strength training is for everyone — not just women over 40 or 50, but also for yogis who need to balance the flexibility we cultivate on the mat.

To deepen my knowledge, I decided to formalize my training and earned a Personal Trainer Certification, which helped me stay up to date with the evolving world of fitness.

After completing the certification, I began encouraging my Ashtanga yoga students to incorporate weight training into their routines. Seeing how transformative it was for them inspired me to create Wholesome Training — a program that combines strength training to build resilience and age gracefully, with yoga to enhance mobility and calm the mind.

Each day, we focus on different muscle groups, followed by an Ashtanga-based sequence to stretch and restore the areas we worked. I redesign the entire program every month to keep your body adapting, your mind engaged, and your awareness expanding — creating a dynamic journey toward physical vitality and inner balance.”
